Words from Hamilton Willis

Greetings!
As many know, the Chamber has taken a stand on HB 715, which is enabling legislation, so that West Feliciana can develop impact fees. This would alter the principle of law in place that allows citizens to vote on taxes, as written currently. We have had many conversations and some of these have been animated. We live and work here, too! We want new development to fit into the Parish economically, so that others don't bear the costs that belong to a developer. There are several problems with the Bill; some of which are being changed, since attention has been drawn to them. Some remain and I suspect that we will not get every concern of ours changed, though they are being examined. Now or later, we will need to address the problems that this Bill hopes to. If this Bill passes, it calls upon the citizens to participate in the public meetings, in preparation of the Ordinance. Be alert to this necessity and responsibility!

It is a pleasure to serve with so many hard working folks on this Chamber! They are all busy and you will see more, soon about LSUSF, website directory, "After Hours," Scholarships, US Senator's visits, just to name a few! If you haven't seen a bill from us, call or email us to see if you are an active member. Did I mention that our membership is growing! We have increased by 50%. since early March! We appreciate your support and encouragement!
