Greetings! 12-08-08

The lights are going up and so are the trees. The businesses and home owners are pulling out all the decorations and the town workers are working diligently for a "Spectacular Weekend" to kick off the Christmas season- Christmas In The Country is here!

For a short version of what to expect-

Friday, December 5- 5:30pm- the First Baptist Church Children's Choir will be singing on the front porch of Town Hall- at 6:00pm, Mayor Billy D'Aquilla will light the Town of St. Francisville Christmas Tree and will host a reception at Town Hall with a "special visitor". Then from 6:30pm until 9pm- White Light Night will begin. Trolleys will be rolling downtown with all the businesses staying open late for your shopping needs. More will be going on so make sure you get a schedule of the events at any business in town.

Saturday, December 6- starts off with Breakfast with St. Nick at Jackson Hall. Tickets are required. West Feliciana School choirs will be singing at the Historical Society Museum on Ferdinand Street during the morning with vendors and food and activities for everyone along Ferdinand and Royal Streets and bands playing in Parker Park and other locations throughout the town. The businesses will be open for you to get that "special" gift. Then at 2:00pm- THE CHRISTMAS PARADE- JUMP IN! More activities for the evening until 8pm including the Live Nativity at the First Baptist Church on Hwy 61 & 10.

Sunday, December 7-starting at noon, the Library Tour of Homes, tickets are required. Shops, restaurants, and businesses will again be open so you can complete those shopping lists.

Current Ferry Schedule
Because of low water, the St. Francisville/New Roads ferry will only run during daylight hours. Until further notice, the ferry will operate from 6:15am until 5:15pm. If the water continues to fall the ferry will have to shut down completely. Another source for up-to-date information can be found on the Chamber of Commerce website on the top left, click Ferry Status.

Chamber of Commerce "Business Recognition Dinner"
The Greater St. Francisville Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the "Business Recognition Dinner" on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Sage Hill Reception Center at 6 pm. Tickets are $35 per person and will be available beginning December 1, 2008. For more information, please call the chamber office at 225-635-6717. Chamber of Commerce 2009 Membership Drive
The 2009 Membership Invoices have been sent out to all businesses that were members in 2008. The chamber asks that you complete the form and send the invoice with your check before November 27th. If you are not a member, and would like to join the Chamber, please call the office at 225-635-6717, and we will send you a form. WOW- Wellness of Women
With all the work and excitement of the holidays, come relax with other women and learn an amazing and easy technique for dissolving the stresses of your day. Light refreshments will be served. Glitz & Glamour

6th Annual Taste of the Felicianas
The Women's Service League and Feliciana Restaurants and Caterers are preparing for the 6th Annual- Taste of the Felicianas. It is truly "A Night of Glitz and Glamour" that everyone will enjoyed.

The date for the event is Friday, January 23, 2009 at 7:30pm at Hemingbough in St. Francisville. For more information call 225-784-1704. Don't miss this event!!


St. Francisville Transitory Theatre presents;
Performances are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, December 6 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, December 7 at Market Hall on Royal Street in St. Francisville. Each performance will run approximately 90 minutes which includes a 15 minute intermission between plays. Admission to all performances is $5.00 per person. Tickets will be on sale 30 minutes prior to each performance. Seating is limited to 50 people, so come early to get your seats!. For more informaiton: Click Here


Annual Christmas Concert
The St. Francisville Symphony Association's Annual Christmas Concert will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in St. Francisville on Friday, December 5th at 7 pm. Musicians from the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra will be featured with Timothy Muffet conducting. There will be a reception following the concert in Jackson Hall. For tickets, please call 225-635-6397 or visit StFrancisvilleFestivals.com. Tickets will be available at the door but the concert may sell out so get your tickets early.


Friends of WFP Library Tour Of Homes
The Friends of West Feliciana Library will host the "Tour of Homes" on Sunday, December 7th during Christmas in the Country weekend. There will be 4 homes showcased for $15 per person. Christmas in the Country "White Light Night"
In August the "White Linen Night" was such a big success, it will be repeated during Christmas in the Country as "WHITE LIGHT NIGHT" on Friday, December 5th from 6pm until 9pm following the the lighting of the town's Christmas Tree. This year's Christmas in the Country will be held the weekend of December 5,6, & 7th. Plan to attend this event. Come support the businesses in West Feliciana. Relocation Packets are now Available
If you know of anyone who is moving to St. Francisville, they can call the Chamber office at 635-6717 and request a re-location packet. Information about the parish and parish facilities along with phone numbers they will need and some brochures from Chamber businesses and maps of the town and parish are enclosed in the packets.
